Messines Farm Puts Down Roots at ‘Movies That Matter’ Night!

Currumbin, QLD – November 20, 2024

The team at Messines Farm rolled up to the ‘Movies That Matter’ event at Currumbin Eco Village with buckets of enthusiasm (and a few plums) on Wednesday, November 20th. The event featured the eye-opening regenerative agriculture doco Common Ground, followed by a panel that dug deep into the future of farming and sustainable food systems.

Our Director of Dirt, Kieran Richardt, brushed off his boots to join the panel, sharing juicy insights on how regenerative agriculture is the apple of our eye when it comes to building a sustainable, resilient future. The conversation sprouted discussions on soil health, biodiversity, and farming with the climate in mind—because, let’s face it, we’re all rooting for the planet!

Key Takeaways from Common Ground 🍏
Common Ground brought together a fantastic crop of stars, including regenerative farming advocate Gabe Brown, who shared his groundbreaking work in soil health, along with actor-activists Woody Harrelson, Laura Dern and a host of other celebrities, who lent their voices to raise awareness about sustainable agriculture. The documentary delved into the role of regenerative agriculture in reversing environmental degradation, featuring inspiring examples of how farming can be part of the solution to climate change, biodiversity loss, and soil erosion. The film also stressed the importance of reconnecting with the land, the role of livestock in ecosystem health, and how small-scale farmers can lead the charge for global change.

Of course, we couldn’t show up empty-handed. Guests got to taste-test some of our plum-believable fresh-picked harvest and grab a flyer for our upcoming doco release Messy: Regenerative Agriculture. To sweeten the deal, we officially launched the trailer for the series at the event. Spoiler alert: it’s ripe with stories about our journey into regenerative agriculture and how we’re planting seeds for change.

The ‘Movies That Matter’ series is all about showcasing stories that inspire action, and we’re thrilled to have been part of an event that’s turning the tide for the agri-world. It’s proof that a little ground-breaking effort can make a big difference.
